Christmas is in the air, despite the desires of so many to hold back the evergreen tide until at least the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. I’ve heard an awful lot about the upcoming Hallmark Countdown to Christmas, the offer of $1000 to watch 24 movies in 12 days, and the recent Hallmark Christmas Expo. Hallmark practically has a monopoly of holiday romance. Personally, I’m happy to watch Christmas movies at any time of the year. It doesn’t matter how predictable they are, nor how many times the same actresses show up in nearly the same small town. I know there will be a bakery, a broken heart, and snow. That’s why I watch them. Getting paid to do so really would be a dream job, but the chances of winning that are slim to none. But that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t pretend I have that job. I’m happy to bust out the hot chocolate and bingo cards and watch with like minded friends for free. And that is exactly what I plan to do.
Yet, to be honest, since last year, I’ve fallen far more in love with reading clean romance novels than watching the movies. The stories are longer so it’s more time to enjoy them. It also means more character development and often times they are part of a series of interconnected stories that add even greater enjoyment. So this holiday season I’m committing to read 24 holiday romance novels just for the challenge of making time to enjoy the season. I have job and and family so I’m going to start next week over Thanksgiving break and commit to finishing them by December 24th. I will hold off begin posting about them until December, but each day from December 1st through December 24th I will post a short review for each book.
Here’s what I’m looking for. I want recommendations for clean, Christmas romance novels. Christian romance is a plus. Free is even better. I’m leaning towards newer releases but I’m not opposed to a classic, and I’m happy to help out authors who are getting started and looking to build up some online book reviews. I will read most of them on my Kindle for convenience, but I’m up for a few paper copies. I have Hoopla and a library card. I also love audiobooks.
So, please send me your recommendations and Happy Holiday!
